Winnipeg River system

Wilderness Edge lies on the shores of Winnipeg River, providing access to Manitobas premier vacationland, the Whiteshell Provincial Park. Picture yourself leaving the marina. The crisp, clear morning filled only with the sound of a loon. Your canoe paddle dipping into the calm of the river. The mist begins to roll off the water and the most breathtaking sunrise lies before you.

Extended canoe trip example

Starting from the front yard of Wilderness Edge you paddle to your first portage just 15 minutes away at the rock damn near the beach and golf course. Your path continues through a class 1 chute, followed by travel under the swinging bridge and into a quiet marsh. Soon after a decision needs to be made of either an easy portage or a shooting through class 1 rapids. Paddling onward you reach the Old Pinawa Dam Provincial Park at Hwy 520 for a short break and maybe a picnic. Continuing on through a series of liftovers you travel south for another 8 kilometers and going under a bridge you finish at Watside Provincal Park on Hwy 313.
