Creative Arts & Crafts Retreats

Hello! My name is Madison, and I am the resident artist here at Wilderness Edge.

Over the years I have assisted with teaching classes at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, fulfilled commissions, and have contributed to collaborative installation projects. My entire life I’ve had a love for art and a passion for teaching and am very excited to be leading our weekend art retreat.

Our Creative Retreat Packages offers a number of options to have you come away feeling excited about your innovative abilities.

Paint night – Canvas

Express yourself! Getting creative is good for the soul (and we make it easy).  Unleash your creative spirit. No limits, no expectations—the night is what you make it.

Duration: After Supper from 6pm to 9pm

Includes:  use of paint, brushes, and qualified instructor. Canvas is yours to keep!

Join us for a delightful Paint Night experience where you can express your inner artist. Unleash your creative spirit as you paint your masterpiece with the guidance of our wonderful teacher, Madison. For just $25 per person, with a minimum 10 people ($250 plus tax) you'll receive all the necessary supplies, including paint, brushes, and canvas along with Madison your instructor. Let your imagination flow and create something beautiful that's good for the soul.

Flower arranging

Create your own floral arrangement in this 2 hour class. Learn some tips and techniques that professional floral designers use to make their arrangements look their best and prolong the life of fresh flowers.

Duration: 2 hours after supper from 6pm to 8pm

Paint night rocks

Our slightly shorter and less expensive version of Paint Night Canvas! Great activity for the first night you check into Wilderness Edge.  Get your creative juices rocking in this introductory guide to painted object (and we make it super easy).  Do it just the way you see fit – the night is what you make it.

Duration: 2 hours after supper from 6pm to 8pm

Fun with clay

This class is a great introduction to clay. The instructor will demonstrate the basics of sculpting, the tools, and the handling of the clay to help you create a finished project of your own.

Duration: 2 hours

Wind chimes

You can make wind chimes from a variety of household and building materials, such as utensils and plumbing supplies. One of the simplest ways is to make a set of decorative copper wind chimes. In this weekend creative retreat, you will decorate the chimes with beads and crystals, or let the copper pipes stand alone.

The painter's palette

Can’t Draw? Well neither can I, but I can paint. Come try your hand at painting on canvas. Learn step by step how to paint a beginner level picture, start to finish. A fun experience for anyone wishing to give it a try.

Cake decorating – sugar flowers

In this Manitoba Women’s Retreat Package for Decorating Basics, Loni Pakulak our resident cook will be your instructor.  Learns Loni’s special way to create the delicate flower petals, shells, pompom flowers, rosettes, leaves, and roses. Included in the session is to decorate cupcakes, cookies as well as different cake shapes. Loni does a great job in sharing her passion for decorating and you will be encouraged along every step of the way.

Duration: Saturday Morning and again Sunday Morning (This gives the pedals about 20 hours of drying time)

Pinawa art exploration center

Experience one of the art projects our Pinawa Art offers exclusively to our Conference Centre patrons. Class sizes are limited and are held in the Art Gallery/Exploration Centre. Topics include: intros to- acrylic painting, water colour painting, drawing, mandala rock painting, animal rock painting, origami art, as well as several children’s art fun projects.
