Outdoor Education

Outdoor Ed has shifted from science skills to climbing, outdoor programs to outdoor activities. It is to the point that it’s hard to tell where outdoor ed ends and outdoor summer camp begins. What is needed is an education adventure, a way to get science into adventure courses. When we take kids out to outdoor camp are they getting the best we have to offer? Let’s make adventures in the wilderness count not only in the photos but the areas of academic pursuits.

Wilderness Edge is located just 60 minutes northeast of Winnipeg and 70 minutes northeast of Steinbach. Situated on 11 acres on the serene Winnipeg River and surrounded by Whiteshell Provincial Park in Pinawa, Manitoba, Wilderness Edge provides organizations with a place to relax, refresh, and refocus.

Whether it is a company picnic, team building seminar, Christmas party, or annual sales training, Wilderness Edge offers everything you need to make your event a success.

Utilize our Manitoba or Aggasiz conference center rooms for large group events, or for a more “personal” retreat we offer the McCoy lounge and Pinawa room with 60″ HD TV and tables for games. We offer 9 different types of accommodations from couples suites to dorm room and everything in between. Our 115 guest rooms with 200 bedrooms accommodates 415 bed spaces. Bring the Entire Crew

Our conference center facilities accommodate up to 350 for overnight stays. We have 83,000 square feet of building space that offers small, medium, and large-sized conference rooms.

Outdoor Activities

We offer an array of outdoor activities to enhance your time at Wilderness Edge. Among them are guided and unguided hiking and biking tours the Ironwood and TransCanada trail system; exceptional 18 hole Pinawa Golf Course; canoes the Winnipeg River from our backyard, courtyard campfires; hot tub; hayrides; volleyball, tether ball; large beach and public heated swimming pool; BBQ Suppers; Body surf at Old Pinawa Dam or enjoy the self guided tour; guided pontoon cruise; cross country ski, curling and evening socials. Food Service

All Conference Center hotel rentals include three buffet meals per day. Our dining room seats up to 225 people per setting (we can do 2 settings back to back) and meals can be staggered to accommodate larger groups. In addition to our buffet, we also have a soup and salad bar available. Beverages include tea, milk, juices, coffee, cocoa, and water, which are available 24 hours/day. Beer and wine are available with a liquor permit in an after hour event confined to your meeting area (contact us for details).


We have a variety of resources for on-site entertainment. Whatever your theme is from country-western bands to Elvis impersonators to jazz quartets; we will go the extra mile to make everything come together and be a memorable event for your attendees.

We have a huge variety of resources for corporate training and motivational speakers. From HR training and Developing Workplace Emotional Intelligence to CPR and First Aid (re)certification to Health and Fitness gurus and Adventure Story telling; we have an amazing, talented and knowledgeable group of professionals to take make your corporate event inspiring, rejuvenating and most importantly life altering.
